Explains the Muslim perspective on charity, one of the Five Pillars of Islam, concern for, and giving to the needy.  The author also discusses the current situation of   Islamic organizations such as guidelines for Muslim charities, and a look at what management practices are most effective.  The suggestions in the book are geared to Islamic groups but he also includes general information, including suggestions for board selections, strategic plan creation and public relations. 
Mr. Jassemm encourages the reader to be responsible, accountable and to develop strong partnerships with the U.S government and other nonprofit organizations.

The organizations considered highly successful by the authors are: America's Second Harvest, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, City Year, Environmental Defense, The Expolaratorium, Habitat for Humanity International, the Heritage Foundation, National Council of La Raza, Self-Help, Share our Strength, Teach for America, and YouthBuild USA. They concluded that there were six practices that these nonprofits had in common. Shared, winning characteristics of these organizations are included and explored.
